Slow-Cooked Pot-au-Feu & Lemon Syrup Mint Soda

Today, I’m sharing a simple yet special slow-cooked pot-au-feu ♡

There’s almost no effort involved — just gently simmering everything over low heat until the pork becomes incredibly tender and full of flavor.

I paired it with a refreshing Lemon Syrup Mint Soda made with homemade lemon syrup and fresh mint ☆

It’s perfect for relaxing evenings at home when you want something comforting and delicious without spending too much time in the kitchen.

Ingredients for the Pot-au-Feu (Serves 2)

Pork shoulder block 400g
Onion 1
Carrot 1
Garlic 1 clove
Bay leaf 1
Chicken bouillon cubes 2
Water 1100ml
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste

Optional: cabbage or other leafy vegetables, parsley stems

Whole grain mustard for serving

How to Make the Pot-au-Feu

1.Cut the pork shoulder and onion in half.
Cut the carrot into 3 pieces.

2.Place the water, garlic, chicken bouillon cubes, pork, bay leaf, and optional parsley stems into a pot and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.

As it begins to boil, skim off the foam that rises to the surface.

3.Once boiling, reduce to very low heat, cover, and simmer for 2 hours.

The key is to keep the heat low enough that it does not boil over even with the lid on.

4.After 2 hours, turn off the heat once and add the onion and carrot.

Bring back to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to very low heat again, cover, and simmer for another hour.

5.Since the soup is lightly seasoned, adjust with salt and black pepper at the end if needed.

Serve with plenty of whole grain mustard♡

If using cabbage or leafy vegetables, add them during the final 10–15 minutes of cooking.
