The key is that they’re made with rice mixed with shiso leaves. ☆彡

【Ingredients for 2 people】
350g cooked rice
8 slices thinly sliced ​​pork belly
10 shiso leaves
5g dried bonito flakes (thread shavings)
2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon salad oil
A: 2 tablespoons sake
A: 2 tablespoons mirin
A: 1 tablespoon soy sauce
A: 1/2 tablespoon sugar

【How to make】
1. Add shredded shiso, bonito flakes, white sesame seeds, and soy sauce to cooked white rice and mix.
2. Divide the mixed rice from step 1 into four equal parts and form cylindrical rice balls.
3. Tightly wrap each rice ball with two thinly sliced ​​pork belly pieces.
4. Heat salad oil in a frying pan and add step 3, browning the pork until golden brown on all sides. Wipe off any fat that comes off during cooking with kitchen paper.
5. Mix all of the seasonings from step A and add to the frying pan from step 4. While heating, coat the pork well with the sauce and it’s done.

By the way, this rice mix of white rice, shiso leaves, dried bonito flakes, sesame seeds, and soy sauce is delicious on its own (lol).
